Your Answer to 2009 IECC! Revolutionary New Design

The 2009 International Energy Conservation Code or IECC addresses changes to attic access openings to make them more energy efficient. Most cities currently utilize the International Residential Code or IRC, and are expected to adopt the 2009 IECC changes regulating attic access openings. The Insulated Attic Door is the answer to meeting the new code changes.

The Insulated Attic Door is uniquely designed to address the weakest link in home's energy package. Standard attic access doors provide a 24" X 54" opening that offers little or no protection from the extreme temperatures in your attic. Temperatures that can reach 165 degrees in the summer and match the exterior temperatures in the winter, which is why the new codes address more energy efficient construction.
The Insulated Attic Door fits over the existing folded ladder in the attic opening and provides an R-16 rating. You do not need to change or modify your architectural plans. The new IECC requires up to an R-30 rating for Texas which is in climate zone 3. The door is designed to insulate to R-16, sturdy, hinged and weatherstripped to provide maximum protection. Combined with added insulation to the ladder, we can acheive up to R-30 very easily.
